Lloyd Jones, Avi Duckor-Jones & Sam Duckor-Jones
A celebration of, and performance by, three unique and varied New Zealand literary voices.
We are excited to announce that Lloyd Jones has agreed to join us this year, and he will have many novels, short stories and non-fiction books to select his readings from.
His Mister Pip novel won the Commonwealth Writers Prize, and his recent works include A History of Silence: A memoir and The Cage.
Avi Duckor-Jones won the Australasian 2018 Seizure Viva la Novella award for his novella Swim. He is a travel writer and documentary maker and he is bringing his play On Dry Land to workshop with a small audience on Saturday 5 October. He may be most recognized as the first winner of Survivor New Zealand!
Sculptor and poet Sam Duckor-Jones will read from his People from the Pit Stand Up book of poems, described as ‘Gorgeous and contrary’ by Jenny Bornholdt. John Campbell says ‘It’s distinctive and authentic and vividly (it seems to me) Sam’s own voice. Bloody fantastic.’ Sam will also be a guest at the Artists of Bannockburn Art Exhibition in the woolshed.
